Boys....

Like most boys, Zach's always been curious about how things work. So what's a boy to do when he sees mom about to throw out a broken iron? He says, "Hey, do you think that can be taken apart?" I say, "I'm sure it can...have at it."

So for about an hour, on a rainy day in the garage, Zach removed every possible removable part from that thing. And has a theory why it didn't work (it just stopped heating up one day, poof, just like that)...he discovered the heating element and saw that where it hooked up to the flat "iron" part there was a lot of oxidation on the connectors. He thinks it just wasn't making a good connection anymore...or something like that! He explained it in much more technical terms. :P

Be Attitudes BOM

Finally.... some quilting news to report! I am doing the Be Attitudes quilt as a block of the month project from This-n-That fabric shop. I finally finished block 2, which is kind of Valentine-ish...I'm glad to have it done even if February is almost over!

Here is also a picture of last month's block...a snowman for January. Aren't they cute! I just love this pattern.

My Ironing Board

A Simple Girl posted a challenge on her blog to share a picture of our ironing boards. I recently took this cute picture of Smokey. He thinks he's pretty smug up there keeping an eye on everything...at least as long as he can stay awake. :)

Family Time

Our daughter, Meg, is visiting from California where she is going to school. It's so much fun having her home! She likes being spoiled by mommy for a few days. She couldn't wait also to play against her brother on Rockband. Video games have always been a common bond for those two! :)

We took her to Pike Place in Seattle on a beautiful sunny day. Everyone else seem to have the same idea as the crowds were unbelievable! This picture is inside the very first Starbuck's Coffee Shop.
Zach couldn't resist this big chocolate donut from a bakery inside the market. He shared it with everyone too! :)

Snow Day

We spent a gorgeous day snowshoeing at Mt. Rainier. It was unbelievably warm, sunny and clear. Look at that blue sky! There is so much snow up there and it was melting fast with that sunshine. I can't wait to do it again!

Totebags!

I made two totebags today! The first one is from the "Screen Play" pattern and I used a theme fabric from the Washington State Shop Hop. I love how this came out! I can see making some for my nieces and nephews...lots of possibilities.
The second one is made with Sandy Gervais's Red, White, and Bold charm pack. I love anything patriotic and fell in love with these fabrics! It's a nice big size to use for transporting quilty projects.

Back in the saddle.....

I've seriously neglected this blog for way too long....but I'm going to try and get it up and running!

Just FYI...I finished that Reminisce Block of the Month that I posted about previously. It's hanging in our bedroom and is much prettier in person. :) The pattern is by Lori Smith.
