Fun Friday

I know it's Sunday, not Friday! But I have some pictures to show you from Friday...three other girls and I try to get together on as many Fridays as we can to work on a project or sometimes go shopping and lunch. They started calling the day Fun Friday! Sometimes we are all working on different projects, but we also have done some joint projects too. You might remember the Snack Quilt we made a couple months ago.

This week, we decided to make the Big Tote Bag that is found in the April edition of McCall's Quilting magazine. Here is a picture of all our machines set up at Jen's house.

Then we got to work laying out our charm's not as easy as you would think! Here Kristen (standing) and Susan are contemplating the layout.

Here are the girls (from left to right: Jen, Susan Kristen), working hard sewing the charms together.

And ta-da! Here is my finished tote! I used the Zippity Do Dah charm pack from Moda. This is a BIG bag! It's going to be perfect for my quilting retreat next month!

I have been sewing this week, since the last time I posted. But I can't show pictures! I'm working on a couple secret projects that I will be taking to retreat next month. I'll take pictures though and show them after I get back. I did finish the third month of the Thimbleberries BOM. So far, I'm staying up to date with this BOM!! Woohoo!!

Hope you are having a quilty weekend and enjoying some sunshine...I know I am!!

Two Finished Quilts!!

I finished two quilts this week! The first one is made with the block "My Blue Heaven." The pattern is found on The Quilter's Cache. I'm really happy with this one...I'm giving it to my husband's secretary as a going away gift. You can see Smokey is busy with his inspection.

I showed you this second one in my last post. I did a demo of the disappearing 9-patch at a small quilt group I belong to. This is the resulting quilt from the demo! I'm going to take it to a quilting retreat in May. All the quilts donated at the retreat will be donated to a local crisis pregnancy center.

Last is a picture of Buster. He celebrated his 10th birthday on Tuesday. I made him a special birthday bandana to wear. I can't believe we've had him 10 years already! He's a good doggy. :)

I hope you all have a happy, happy Easter!

I'm soooo behind!

I have been such a bad blogger and blog reader!! My "Google Reader" list says I have 104 posts to read! I'm sorry to all my blogging friends...I will read them all soon! I want to see what you are up too!

Last week was Spring Break for Zach, so we had him home for the week. That always makes momma happy. :) We didn't do anything too exciting...just enjoyed time at home. DH and Zach did go skiing one day and had a blast!

I have been doing a bit of sewing here and there. Nothing huge getting accomplished, though. You might remember this quilt I made late last's a Disappearing 9 Patch. I was asked to demo the technique at a small quilt group that I belong to. So I made up a couple of samples to show the ladies.

The first one I used a Charm Pack to make a small table runner. The fabric is the Portugal line from Moda and it's soooo much prettier in person. I couldn't get the colors to come out true. I need a summer runner (other than patriotic) for my table, so this will be perfect!

The next one uses just three fabrics and I wanted to show how easy it is to make a quick charity quilt out of simple 9 patches.

You only turn the top left and the bottom right block in each 9 patch to get this design....isn't that cool? I just need to make a couple more blocks and this quilt will go with me to a retreat in May. Each of the retreat attenders brings a quilt to donate to a local pregnancy center.

I had to share this picture of Smokey. I recently purchased that new lamp on my cutting table. It puts out a bit of heat and now it's Smokey's new favorite napping place. Especially when I provide "pillows" for him to use. Believe it or not...I cut all the fabrics for the pictures above with him on the table! LOL I had one little corner to work in, while he kept snoozin'. I would just slide the ruler under him when I needed more space. It didn't faze him one bit...

Hopefully I'll get caught up on reading my favorite blogs soon! I miss seeing what you all are up to!

Happy Quilting!
